Swiss Quality Coffee Equipment

At Thermoplan, we develop and produce fully automatic coffee machines for professional use, whether for the catering industry or other businesses. We stand for the highest Swiss quality. As a family business, we are globally active and supply customers in over 80 countries. We achieve this together with our more than 200 certified sales and service partners worldwide. At our headquarters in Weggis, in the canton of Lucerne, we employ over 500 people.
The commitment to the quality label «Made in Switzerland» is more than a promise for our employees at Thermoplan - it is a matter of the heart. The Swiss coat of arms in our logo symbolises our pride in Switzerland as a production location. Because Thermoplan is a Swiss made company through and through: We manufacture our fully automatic coffee machines in Weggis, with around 80 percent of the components used coming from domestic production.

Thermoplan combines technology and craftsmanship at the highest level. Our procurement and manufacturing process is automated. We live Industry 4.0.

Since the beginning of 2020, we have been operating a fully automated shuttle warehouse at our Weggis site with nine kilometres of automated conveyor technology in the shuttle warehouse and one kilometre in the plant. 94 «Stingrays» on 23 levels with around 40,500 material storage locations deliver all machine components to the respective workstations in production. Our photovoltaic system on the roof provides the necessary electricity for the warehouse.

unique - the fifth plant

A new building with an inviting café

In June 2024, Thermoplan opened its fifth plant, the new building unique. The building with production and office space was constructed in just 960 days using the latest technologies.

In the entrance area there is a cozy café where our team comes up with new drink and snack creations for you every day and coffee enjoyment is by no means neglected.

Locally anchored, globally active. In addition to a global dealer network, Thermoplan has subsidiaries in Germany and the USA. This provides our partners and customers around the globe with professional support for longterm success.

Thermoplan Deutschland GmbH & Austria:
Germany is a key market of great importance. Thermoplan Deutschland GmbH, based in Hockenheim, was founded in 1998 to strengthen sales and services for the German and Austrian markets.

Thermoplan USA:
Thermoplan's presence in the USA is of great importance both strategically and operationally. In 2003, Thermoplan USA Corporated was founded in Reno (Nevada) to provide a professional and competent presence in the growing North and South American market.

2026

The acquisition of the naming rights to the FCL stadium marks the beginning of a new chapter: As of July 1, 2026, FC Lucerne’s home stadium will be known as the thermoplan arena. Through this ten-year commitment, we are underscoring our connection to the region and promoting values such as team spirit, a commitment to excellence, and regional identity.

2025

With the opening of our Thermoplan Roastery and the Coffee Academy, we are strengthening our expertise in coffee. At our in-house roastery, we develop and roast coffee right here in Weggis, laying the foundation for the highest quality. At the same time, we share our knowledge with customers, partners, and coffee enthusiasts at the Coffee Academy.

2024

Company celebration 50 years of Thermoplan

In 2024 we look back with pride and gratitude on 50 years full of exciting, eventful, varied and unforgettable moments and can count ourselves as one of the most successful developers and producers of fully automatic coffee machines.

2022

In 2022, Domenic Steiner handed over the chairmanship of the board of directors to long-time board member Andri Pol, Esther Steiner's son. Domenic Steiner will remain with Thermoplan AG as a valuable member of the Board of Directors.

2021

Since 2021, customers with a low daily demand of 20 to 100 cups can also benefit from a fully automatic professional coffee machine. With this development, Thermoplan is opening up further segments.

2017

In 2017, the ThermoplanConnect telemetry system was developed and gradually expanded into a comprehensive digital platform. ThermoplanConnect enables customers to monitor and analyse their coffee business and, at the same time, to transfer recipes, software updates and individualised user interfaces remotely to individual machines or an entire fleet.

2016

In 2016, the slimmest fully automatic coffee machine in Thermoplan's history was launched. This appeals to a segment with a medium daily requirement. At just 22.8 cm, the size of an A4 sheet of paper, it can dispense 50 to 150 cups of coffee per day.

2013

Since 2013, premium vending coffee machines have also been manufactured in Weggis for a British coffee house chain. This equipment enables customers to enjoy first-class coffee at countless locations outside the coffee house.

2011

In 2011, Thermoplan gained another major customer. The Swiss-based company relies on Thermoplan's know-how and is active in the B2B market with its fully automatic coffee machines.

2009

In 2009, the first fully automatic coffee machine of the new generation, the Black&White3, was launched.

In 2009, Domenic Steiner handed over the management of the company to Adrian Steiner and withdrew from the operational business in 2010. Adrian Steiner joined the board of directors as a co-shareholder and has since been steering the fortunes of Thermoplan AG as CEO with management responsibility for almost 500 employees. The majority of the company is still family-owned.

2006

Thermoplan presented the innovative world premiere of the first fully automatic coffee machine that can prepare cold milk foam at the touch of a button.

1999

In 1999, Thermoplan convinced as a newcomer in the industry and since then has been the exclusive supplier of fully automatic coffee machines for a globally active American coffee house chain - the breakthrough in the international market.

1995

In 1995, the Weggis-based company entered the coffee machine business. From then on, the development and production of fully automatic coffee machines became the company's core business. To this day, Thermoplan is successful on the global market with innovative machines that combine simple operation with the highest product quality and is proud to be one of the world market leaders in the industry.
