The first few weeks for our new apprentices at Thermoplan were all about settling in, getting to know each other, and exploring.
Our ten new apprentices have been part of Thermoplan since August 3, 2026. The first two weeks of orientation are already behind us and they’re off to a great start. A varied orientation program gave them the opportunity to get to know Thermoplan from different perspectives: professional, creative, and personal.
To kick things off, the apprentices received important information to help them get started and learned about Thermoplan, our products, and various areas of the company. In addition to training sessions on topics such as data protection, safety, codes of conduct, and internal tools, the program also included regular days on the job. This allowed them to settle into their teams right from the start and gain their first practical experience.
Interaction with senior management was also a key part of the program. During the welcome address by our CEO, Adrian Steiner, the apprentices gained further insights into Thermoplan and the importance of their training for our company.
Special highlights of the orientation weeks
Coffee Academy
At the Coffee Academy, the apprentices spent half a day immersing themselves in the world of coffee. The introductory course gave them a firsthand look at one of Thermoplan’s core areas and showed them what goes into our daily work.
Street Art and Graffiti Workshop
Things got creative right at the end of the first workweek: Together with Art with Us GmbH, the trainees created their own street art and graffiti pieces. The workshop provided fun, interaction, and a first shared experience outside the typical workday routine.
A Look Behind the Scenes at the Roastery
The introductory weeks concluded on August 14 with a guided tour of our roastery led by Rolf Hochstrasser. This informative behind-the-scenes look offered further exciting insights and served as a fitting conclusion to two intense and eventful weeks.
Other program highlights, such as product training, a presentation of the uniqueBean project, and an icebreaker game, strengthened the group’s cohesion and provided additional insights into the world of Thermoplan.
The first few weeks were marked by new experiences, valuable encounters, and many impressions. This has given our ten new apprentices a solid foundation for their future at Thermoplan.
Personal impressions from our apprentices:
Dino, Business Apprentice
“The transition from 10th grade to the working world is a huge change, but my start at Thermoplan couldn’t have gone better.
Training on IT and safety, an exciting product training session, a look inside the Coffee Academy, and a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the roastery, where I got to experience firsthand how coffee is made from bean to finished package. That showed me just what an exciting world I’m now working in. I’ve been assigned to the Milk group, and the icebreaker game with the other apprentices was the highlight for me personally. The team chemistry is just right. We in the Milk group hit it off right away with the Coffee group. That made the two weeks relaxed and awesome. "I'm so happy about the welcome I've received here, and I'm really motivated to take the next steps in my training and my future."
Remo, Logistics Specialist
“I really enjoyed the two introductory weeks. I was able to settle right into the job and get used to the fact that I’m now going to work instead of going to school. I really enjoy working as a logistics specialist, and I’m very much looking forward to the next three years of my apprenticeship.”
Lars, IT Specialist in Application Development
I especially liked that we weren’t at the workplace all the time right from the start, but spent more time there day by day so we could gradually get used to working. I also really enjoyed the program activities, since they weren’t just informative but also had a relaxed atmosphere. I also really liked that we had a fun dynamic among us apprentices. The two weeks went by very quickly and were a great introduction to working life. I also found the introduction to certain topics very exciting, because we’ll be able to use some of that information.
We’re happy to support you on this journey and wish you lots of joy, curiosity, and success in your training!
